As the screen went black at the end of this deeply touching film, I had to remind myself to breath. Boy A tells a tale that can be best described in a single word . . . tragic. Oh, how I wanted a different ending — a story of triumph, hope, and change; redemption for a hard life, bad choices, and a broken spirit. Yet, the film teased with its glimpses of a new life, love re-awakened, healthy friendships formed. For its fine acting, first-rate cinematography, and gripping story, I highly recommend this film; but for its concluding hopeless and heartbreaking act, I can’t offer a single word of praise or endorsement.
