Review: Sunshine (2007)

4 07 2009

SunshinePosterSmallSunshine is a visual masterpiece, but a narrative mess. The first 3/4 of this film is engaging and drew me in. Yes, the character development is limited-to-non-existent, but I was attracted to the mission and overall story idea. The last 1/4 took a turn that I didn’t see coming; although, any true Danny Boyle horror fan probably would have. I found the shaky camera bit a somewhat novice manner of introducing horror or chaos. I wonder if we couldn’t have gotten to a similar climax and final conclusion without the sudden right turn . . . I would have loved the characters (and film) more for it.
